The Elms

These two photographs show the elms in a position which is now the first parking lot on the drive.

The lone elm is on the slope between the football pitch and the main building.

The logs were taken to a saw mill and turned into fencing posts. A small quantity of the timber was returned to the school. As teacher in charge of woodwork, I showed a group of boys how to carve from wood.

For my own part, as a keepsake of the elms, I fashioned a bird of prey. It is eleven inches high and four inches across. It is my pride and joy and much admired by all who see it.
